Kanye West ‘College Dropout’ Burgers Lawsuit Stands Dismissed

Kanye West may have a lot to unpack for his therapist! The rapper has been going through some rough times due to his erratic behavior. This has led to the doom of Ye. There is nothing, but a downhill for the rapper from here since he has tainted his credibility as a human and artist. It all started with the Paris Fashion Week in 2022 where he introduced t-shirts with ‘White Lives Matter’ printed on them. He received a backlash for his fashion statement, but the rapper continued to spew hate.

Kanye West later went on a rampage to criticize the Jews and make anti-Semitic comments. The industry, however, could not tolerate this behavior of Ye. Therefore, many industry giants started to break any ties that they have with the ‘Donda’ rapper or his brands. The fashion moguls like Adidas and Balenciaga also dropped Ye. After the downfall and a failed election campaign, many of his past associates have been on a search for him. He is hiding so deep inside the burrow that he failed to respond to notices about a lawsuit he filed against a burger shop named ‘College Dropout’. Due to this, the lawsuit was officially dropped.

Why Did Kanye West Sue Mark Elkhouri Over His ‘College Dropout’ Burger Restaurant?

In October 2022, while Ye was going deep into problems affecting his finances, he went after a Melbourne burger restaurant, College Dropout. The moniker is similar to that of his debut album ‘The College Dropout’. Mark Elkhouri, the owner of the restaurant, named the restaurant to change the narrative around Kanye as a ‘crazy’ person.

But, in 2022, West filed a lawsuit against him and the restaurant. He sued the restaurant over “misleading and deceptive” conduct. The rapper alleged that the burger joint tried to establish an affiliation with him or acquired legal approval over using the name.

However, the Australian Federal Court decided to dismiss the case after Kanye and his lawyers failed to respond to the repeated notifications. Mark’s lawyers pleaded for the case to be dismissed and asked for monetary compensation. Justice Shaun McElwaine was disappointed with Ye and his lawyers’ behavior.

Justice Shaun said, “One would have thought if he was seeking to preserve his claims and prosecute this proceeding he might have thought it necessary to appoint a lawyer to appear before me today. He has not done so”. Elkhouri seems to have learned a lesson and says that he will change the name of his restaurant. He said, “Now that I’m not bullied to do anything about it, perhaps I might change the name, but if I do, it’s on my terms.”

In June 2022, Mark Elkhouri observed that Kanye West has been seeing College Dropout Burgers’ stories. It made him very happy, but the euphoria dies down when West’s lawyers sent him a ‘cease and desist’ order asking him to take down the crowned teddy bear logo similar to the cover of his 2004 album.

Mark talked to Broadsheet expressing his love for Kanye. He said, “In some ways, I was disappointed. But I support Kanye. The guy is my f****** hero. There’s no denying how important he is to society. So the real question is how do I take it? At the end of the day, I have to respect it.”

He also explained the purpose behind naming his restaurant after Ye’s album. Mark continued, “It was never about publicity. The name isn’t just a reference to his first album, it’s about what we set out to accomplish. I wanted to change that narrative of Kanye West being seen as ‘crazy’ and I wanted people to revisit his music … I haven’t stopped playing Kanye West’s music here.”

However, things changed after Ye filed a lawsuit against him. Now he is reconsidering the idols that he wants in his life. He will still hold Kanye on a pedestal, but his wife Amanda, and father Sammy will be his role model. Elkhouri said, “I’ve come to a realisation that my true idols are the people that are close to me … these are the people who I look up to on a daily basis and these are people who are realistic idols – I can follow in their footsteps.”
