Kanye West had several high profile relationships before marrying his reality TV star wife, Kim Kardashian in 2014. The pair got divorced after over six years of marriage.
Most of his relationships are very publicized, whilst some were kept private. With the ongoing controversy of ‘Ye’ dating actress and models looking like Kim for the past few years, let us dig into his dating history.

Kanye West Dating History
1) Sumeke Rainey
When Kanye was still a bud, he dated Sumeke Rainey his high school girlfriend. Her father was the one who gifted ‘Ye’ with a box of Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and Aretha Franklin records. He even made a promise to her father on his death bed that he would marry his daughter. However, their relationship didn’t last and they broke up around late ’90s.
2) Alexis Phifer
The fashion designer Alexis Phifer and Kanye dated on-and-off between 2002 and 2008. Ye asked for her hand in 2006. Their relationship gradually started deteriorating after Kanye’s mother, Donda passed away following complications from a botched plastic surgery procedure in 2008. They remained friends even after calling off their engagement. Their break up inspired many of his songs on ‘808s & Heartbreaks‘ album.
3) Brooke Crittendon
During the brief split from Alexis Phifer in 2004, Kanye dated Brooke Crittendon. She was an executive assistant at MTV News. Their romance fizzled away in 2005 and she went on to slam haters of her and Kanye’s relationship in MySpace. Ye did not like what she did and he subtly called her out on Pharrell’s ‘Number one’: “A-a-and you be givin’ me my space, a-a-and you don’t be runnin’ on MySpace.”
4) Sessilee Lopez
After his breakup with Alexis Phifer, Ye was rumoured to have been dating the model Sessilee Lopez. She starred in his ‘Flashing Lights’ music video. Sources suggest that Kanye was smitten by her beauty and they had a very deep connection. However, their attraction never progressed. They both never talked about their relationships in media and kept it private.
5) Amber Rose
Kanye after these scandals dated Amber Rose. He was in a 2 year long relationship with her and their break up was so not on good terms. Rose accused him of cheating on her with Kim Kardashian, whom he would marry in the future. Their bad blood never seemed to simmer and it increased when Amber called Kylie Jenner and Tyga’s relationship “inappropriate”. Kanye slut-shamed Amber and made awful comments which only gave out an epic Twitter feud with her ex Wiz Khalifa in January 2016. Things seemed to calm down now.
6) Selita Ebanks
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel model, Selita Ebanks was the star of his music video for “Runaway”. They were rumoured to be dating toward the end of 2010. They were seen at Paris Fashion Week and US Open enjoying together.
7) Kim Kardashian
Kanye pined after Kim Kardashian for almost 9 years before they finally got together. They first met when Kim was working as an assistant to Brandy in 2004. At that time, Kim was married to Damon Thomas. They were still in the friendzone for almost 9 years until Kim got divorced from Kris Humphries in 2011. Kanye proposed to her on 2013 and they tied the knot in Italy in 2014. Unfortunately, their relationship came to an end in 2021. They have 4 kids together, North, Chicago, Saint and Psalm.
8) Irina Shayk
After his split from Kim, Kanye dated Irina Shayk. They were spotted on a French getaway for his 44th birthday in June 2021. The two briefly dated before calling it quits in August 2021.
9) Julia Fox
This was the relationship that made everyone to cringe. The actress Julia Fox dressed exactly like Kim. They both were spotted on a romantic dinner date at Carbone in Miami on Jan 1. Days later, they went to see Jeremy O. Harris’ Broadway show ‘Slave Play’. Their romance lasted only 6 weeks.
10) Chaney Jones
Kanye has a rumoured relationship with Chaney Jones. They both were spotted together in several occasions. Even before the talks of Ye and Fox’s relationship simmered, the alleged couple Jones and Ye were spotted leaving a listening party for his album ‘Donda 2’. Jones was widely criticized as a dub for Kim. She was called a ‘Kim look-alike’ and people even commented that Ye was so obsessed with Kim that he started dating one looking like Kim.
