Lauren Graham and Matthew Perry‘s friendship survived years of the two actors being in the industry, while also dodging rumors of them dating. Though the ‘Gilmore Girls‘ star has never admitted to dating the ‘Friends‘ star, she recently opened up on how special their friendship was, cherishing the late actor who died last year.
Clarifying their relationship status, the actress said, “While he was not technically ever a boyfriend, he was an almost in my life. A friend and a constant.” Then added, “We would stretch for a year, then he would come back in my life. And he had just come back in my life last year,” according to Deadline.
She also disclosed a very special gift she received from Perry, that ended up becoming his last gift to her. It was a picketball set, which Graham then clarified, “He’s like really into tennis and pickleball.” She also added that the gift came with a card that said, “Be older.”

Rumors have made rounds that both the actors dated at some point in their lives, but they have both always denied these allegations. Matthew struggled with addiction and couldn’t hold on to relationships. In his lifetime, he dated even Julia Roberts, but that didn’t work out either. Perry never even got married.
In her 2013 memoir ‘Talking as Fast as I Can‘, Graham wrote of Perry, “The only bright spot, men-wise, was at an event where I met Matthew Perry. He became my longtime Friend Who I Almost But Never Exactly Dated, or FWIABNED.”
Though their dating rumors have never been confirmed, fans have always pointed out that the duo has really good chemistry, something that Perry himself agreed with too. When asked about his working experience with Lauren he replied, “We have great chemistry when working together and it’s fun to work with a close friend.”
The actors worked together on ‘Birds of Prey’ in 2008 and ‘The Odd Couple‘ in 2015.
