Margot Robbie has never been shy about sharing a funny moment, but one story about her ‘The Suicide Squad‘ co-star John Cena, who was her major crush, blew away the fans all over again.
The actress revealed that long before she ever met Cena on set, she once spent two years sleeping in the same room as a life-size version of him.
Margot Robbie’s Weirdest Sleep Mate

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Robbie sat down alongside director James Gunn and John Cena, and opened up about her unexpected “history” with the latter. She explained that she was an on-and-off WWE fan growing up, but things got much more intense when she started dating someone who was a hardcore fan.

In her late teens and early 20s, she had a boyfriend who was “obsessed with John Cena.” Robbie revealed that he took it so far that he dressed up as Cena for his 21st birthday, and even kept a cardboard cut-out of the star in his bedroom. That’s where Robbie’s story took a hilarious turn.
She shared that she ended up sleeping in that room for two years, with the life-size cut-out watching over the space like an uninvited roommate. Robbie joked that she would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night, get startled, and then calm herself down by thinking, “Oh, it’s just John Cena. It’s okay.”
The Story Got Even Better Once She Actually Met John Cena

Robbie admitted that when the time came for her to work with Cena on ‘The Suicide Squad‘, she wasn’t sure whether she should mention the cut-out story at all. She remembered thinking it might be too weird and considered keeping it to herself. She didn’t want it to be an awkward way to start a new working relationship and friendship.

Of course, she didn’t manage to stay quiet for long. Robbie told him the story almost immediately after meeting him, and playfully added that she quickly realized there was “very little” that could weird him out. The timing made it even funnier, because there she was, finally face-to-face with the real John Cena after spending years sleeping next to his cardboard twin.
Cena clearly took it as a joke. During the show, guest host Anthony Anderson brought out a cardboard cut-out of Robbie as Harley Quinn to “even the score.” Cena, dressed as his ‘Suicide Squad‘ character Peacemaker, walked up to it and awkwardly greeted it with a casual “’Sup?” making the whole moment feel like a perfectly ridiculous mirror image of Robbie’s story.
