Melissa McBride opts out of the spin-off series based on The Walking Dead. McBride essayed the role of Carol in the show that’s midway through airing its last season. The network announced a spin-off based on her character Carol and Norman Reedus’s Daryl in 2020. However, the show will now solely follow Daryl as McBride walks out of the project.
Melissa McBride Exits The Walking Dead Spin-off Show
McBride’s exit from the spin-off show came as a shock for the fans of The Walking Dead. A spokesperson for AMC informed about McBride’s exit from the show. “Melissa McBride has given life to one of the most interesting, real, human, and popular characters in The Walking Dead Universe.”
“Unfortunately, she is no longer able to participate in the previously announced spin-off focused on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and premiere next year. Relocating to Europe became logistically untenable for Melissa at this time. We know fans will be disappointed by this news, but The Walking Dead Universe continues to grow and expand in interesting ways and we very much hope to see Carol again in the near future,” the statement read.
The Walking Dead recently wrapped the second arc of its final season. With one last arc left, the show stands at the edge of its conclusion. The concluding part will release at the onset of fall this year. However, the series continues its run in the form of spin-off shows. One of them, Fear the Walking Dead is currently on-air. And another one is based on Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan.
