Sharing the Vogue cover picture shot eight years ago, se posted it side by side with the new family photo released by Kensington Palace on Sunday in honor of Mother’s Day in the UK.
Social media reacted in different ways to the theory. “That’s why her hair is blurry and translucent from them enhancing where the hat flattened it,” one Twitter user wrote in the comments section, indicating that Kate was wearing a wide-brim hat for the magazine cover shoot, which explains the light color of her hair.

What Is The Controversy Around Princess Of Wales’ Mother’s Day Photo?
While some Twitter users supported the theory, others expressed skepticism, stating that the faces merely showcase the natural consistency of the same person. “It’s nothing alike. It’s just the same face with the same smile, because it’s the same person. Otherwise it’s not remotely similar,” one user argued. Another chimed in, saying, “This is ‘spot on’….because it’s the same woman’s face.”
Earlier in the day, Middleton issued an apology for the photo’s Photoshop errors, which led to multiple photo agencies issuing a “kill notice” to media outlets. The image, featuring Middleton and her three children, had noticeable Photoshop fails, including blurs, distortions, and an overall artificial appearance.
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,” she wrote on X from the official Prince and Princess of Wales page.
