“People Look For Drama”: Olivia Wilde Talks About Harry Styles Spitting On Chris Pine

Olivia Wilde has successfully transitioned from acting to film direction. She made her directorial debut with the 2019 teen comedy ‘Booksmart‘. Wilde is now gearing up for her next film, the psychological drama ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘. It stars Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, and Chris Pine.

The film has been marred with controversies from day one. Reports suggested a rift between Wilde and Pugh, and the controversial exit of Shia LaBeouf. Recently, an apparent spitting video of Styles created a buzz. Wilde has finally addressed the so-called Spit-gate incident.

Earlier this month, a video was circulated online from the Venice premiere of ‘Don’t Worry Darling.’ It apparently showed Harry Styles spitting on Chris Pine. Chris’ representatives denied these rumors.

Now the film’s director, Wilde has also addressed this issue in the upcoming episode of CBS’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The film is slated to release on Friday, September 23.

Wilde said in a promo video, “Another one of our weird rumors, Spit-Gate, which you might have heard about, is I think..” she was then cut off by Colbert.

Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine? Why or why not? Support your answer,” he asked her point blank. Wilde laughed and answered, “No, he did not.”

She continued, “But I think it’s a perfect example of, like, people will look for drama anywhere they can. Harry did not spit on Chris, in fact…” Colbert again interrupted her to say, “Only time will tell.”

Wilde’s second directorial venture has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Some reports suggest that the controversies might actually help the film get a good opening.

The buzz started right after the film’s trailer was launched. It showcased an intimate scene between Pugh and Styles’ characters, which became the talk of the town.

One of the controversies has been the rift between Pugh and Wilde on the sets. It was reportedly due to the fact that Wilde and Styles fell in love on the set which was hindering the entire process.

Later on, the exit of Shia LaBeouf stirred headlines with Wilde suggesting that she had to fire him because of his behavior. Shia later refuted her claims by saying he quit the project because there was no time for rehearsals.
