Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s love story has always been full of memorable moments, but one surprising detail from their early days has now come to light.
During a recent appearance on the Hey Jonas podcast, Chopra looked back at how their first text conversations began and revealed the unusual request Nick made before fully believing he was actually talking to her.
Nick Jonas Wanted Proof He Was Really Texting Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra recently appeared on the Hey Jonas podcast, hosted by her husband Nick Jonas along with his brothers Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas. During the conversation, the couple revisited the story of how they first connected, including the unusual step Nick took before their relationship even began.
Chopra revealed that Nick wanted to make sure he was actually speaking to her after they moved from Instagram direct messages to texting. Recalling the moment, she said, “He wanted to corroborate it was actually me. So he asked me for a photo [in] that moment looking at the camera with a timestamp.”
The actress admitted she found the request unusual but also understood why he asked. “I was like, ‘That is so sus of me already.’ But I appreciated it too,” she added.
The podcast also revisited how their first interaction started. Joe Jonas narrated the Instagram message Nick had sent after spotting Chopra on a billboard and hearing about her from mutual friends.
The message read, “Hello, I’ve heard from a few people that we should meet. I have to agree with these people. Are you in LA anytime soon?”. Chopra replied, “Hey.. Graham’s told me so much about you..Let’s text. More private. My team can access this.”
Their First Date Came More Than A Year Later
Although the two started texting soon after that exchange, they did not begin dating immediately. More than a year passed before they officially got together. Once they started dating, however, things moved quickly, and the couple got engaged in less than three months.

Nick had previously shared another early chapter of their relationship during his appearance on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast in March. He revealed that their first date took place at the Hollywood Bowl during a live performance of Beauty and the Beast. To make the evening feel less awkward, he suggested turning it into a group outing.
“I was like, ‘But let’s bring some friends so there’s less pressure.’ So it was like a group hang in case it wasn’t the vibe,” Nick recalled. “And so she brought her best friend. I brought Kevin and another couple of friends of ours, Greg and Paris, and we had like the absolute best time at the show.”
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra married in December 2018, just months after getting engaged. Now, marking their seventh wedding anniversary, Nick posted a heartfelt tribute to his wife, calling Chopra his “dream girl.”
