“She Said F–k Y’all Ima Do What I Can”: Rihanna Faces Criticism for “Lackluster” Performance At Indian Billionaire’s Wedding

Rihanna has been off stage for a while now. But the singing sensation made her comeback with a performance in the Indian wedding of billionaire Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The Grammy Award-winning superstar flew to India’s Jamnagar along with a number of other celebrities to be a part of the wedding festivities.

However, Rihanna’s much anticipated performance faced criticism at the pre-wedding celebration with many accusing her of not putting enough efforts into the act. Many also pointed out that the singer was paid a staggering $6.3 million for her appearance, but she failed to deliver.

Rihanna was seen performing last at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, while she was pregnant. Since then, the songstress has not appeared on stage. She made her comeback over a year later at the wedding of Indian billionaire Anant Ambani’s wedding. But her performance was not as great as one may have expected after a long hiatus.

Many were quick to label her show as “lackluster” and “boring“. Soon after her performance at the pre-wedding festivities went viral, criticism flooded social media against the singer’s performance. “She got that coin and said f–k y’all ima do what I can,” a user on X wrote. Some others joined to criticize the performance that she got paid 6 million for.

Rihanna was declared a billionaire and “richest female musician” by Forbes in 2021. Because of the substantial fee she charged for this performance and still did not deliver, many also said that she took up the overseas performance as “charity work.”

Social media was full of mixed reviews, with some pointing out that the singer has always been like this. “I’ve always said she’s an incredibly lazy performer…..she never took the time to improve her performances,” a social media user said. “Rihanna always been dry and lackluster idk why ppl are surprised,” another said with laughing emojis.

Rihanna has always performed like this. Not at the start of her career but quickly after,” another agreed. “She performed in front of all their biggest stars & is giving low energy & singing here & there,” a fourth one added.

People acting like Rihanna hasn’t always performed like this… I LOVE Rihanna but I always tell people her concerts have been some of the most boring I’ve been to,” another critic said.

The comparison to her Super Bowl Halftime Show, which received mixed reviews, was inevitable. Rihanna’s live shows have become rare as she focuses on motherhood and her thriving businesses like Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty. That is also why the performance was much anticipated after her last album, ‘Anti’ in 2016.

Fans are also waiting for the release of new music as the singer had given some hints in February 2023.
