In a recent interview with WhoWhatWear, 26-year-old Sydney Sweeney thanked her parents Lisa and Steven Sweeney for believing in her acting talent from an early age. Speaking more about her journey and how her parents played a vital role in her career, Sydney Sweeney revealed she had a childhood dream of providing for her parents and she has fulfilled it.
In a significant milestone, Sweeney said she recently paid off her mother’s mortgage. “I recently paid off my mom’s mortgage,” the actress said, adding that it “was a really big thing for [her] to be able to do.”
Though she has evidently had her plate full with the demands of her career, Sweeney asserted that she finds it important to involve her family in her daily life. “I try to incorporate them into my life as much as possible, whether it’s talking with my cousins every other day or going home,” Sydney revealed.
She added that if she has the chance, she’ll head back home to Spokane, Wash., to spend time with her family. Speaking about shifting her life to another city, Sydney said, “It was hard because L.A. is very different from Spokane. The cost of a big city versus a small city is vastly different and challenging as well.”

Sydney Sweeney Opens Up About Her Struggles As A Child With Divorced Parents
While Sydney Sweeney’s parents now live separately outside of California, their unwavering support remains a constant source of strength for the actress. However, Sweeney had previously opened up about the challenges her parents faced, including their divorce, as she rose to fame.
“My parents sacrificed so much to support my dream, and they lost so much during it,” she said during an interview with Variety in August 2023. “I just felt a responsibility to show them that it was worth it.”
She confessed that she’d “never know” if their sacrifices to help her pursue acting contributed to her parents’ divorce. “I think as a kid, as the eldest, I feel a responsibility. They’ll say no, or they’ll say yes, depending on what fight it is. But I’ll always feel responsible. But that’s okay,” Sydney said, referring to her younger brother, Trent.
The actress also asserted that she sometimes finds it unbelievable that she is showing “this world” to her mother. “My mom grew up with barely anything. She got her GED when she was 16; she worked five jobs to put herself through school; she took care of her brothers,” the actress said. “She takes care of everyone.”
As Sweeney continues to climb the ladder of success, she is also seemingly taking great care of her parents.
