For years, Angelina Jolie has navigated industry pressures and deeply personal heartbreaks, all under the constant scrutiny of the public eye and Hollywood spotlight. And now, the Saltactress is entering a new chapter that will take her away from the sunny city of Los Angeles.

The mother of six recently celebrated the birthdays of her two youngest, twins Vivienne and Knox, who turned 18 on July 12, and is now ready to fulfill a dream she had years ago. According to the latest report, she’s ready to “experience the world” now that her kids have become legal adults. Where is she heading?

In an exclusive PEOPLE report, an unnamed source close to Jolie gave a fresh update on Jolie’s life. “She’s been talking about leaving Los Angeles for years,” they said. “She’s happy to have more freedom and flexibility in her life.”

Currently, the actress lives with her six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins she shares with her ex-husband, actor Brad Pitt. The couple had a 12-year-long relationship and were married for two years before filing for divorce in December 2014.

They ultimately parted ways in 2016, and since then, kids have been Jolie’s top priority, aside from her stable acting career. The source revealed that the actress “has wanted them [her kids] to experience the world and she’s excited that they can all do more of that together now.”

This week, her twins reached their legal ages. In a December 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie spoke about her life in Los Angeles, the city where she was born and raised, as her parents, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, were also actors.

She revealed that the sole reason she is living in the city is the terms of her separation from Pitt. “…As soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” Jolie said, pointing to Vivienne and Knox. The desire to leave Los Angeles stems from multiple important factors.

In the old interview, Jolie highlighted how privacy, peace, and safety become non-negotiable when you have a big family. “I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be…that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”

After leaving the Californian city, Jolie plans to spend some time in Cambodia and also visit her family members wherever they may be in the world. In May 2026, Jolie decided to put her Californian estate, previously owned by filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, up for sale for $29.85 million.

Those following her life closely know that she and Pitt have been involved in a legal battle over ownership of Château Miraval since 2022. In the same year, an insider told PEOPLE that he is no longer in contact with his older kids.

Back then, the ‘Fight Club’ actor, who has been dating jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since November 2022, had the right to visit the young ones, who have now become legal adults.

While speaking to Yahoo Entertainment last month to promote her French film ‘Couture,’ Jolie dropped rare information about her personal life. “I haven’t dated or been with anyone since I divorced a decade ago,” she revealed. As for her career, her slate is packed this year with crime thriller ‘Sunny’ and crime comedy ‘Anxious People.’
