Suri Has Officially Dropped ‘Cruise’ From Her Surname
According to the latest report by Entertainment Weekly, Suri Cruise has changed her surname from ‘Cruise’ to ‘Noelle,’ which is the middle name of her mother, Katie Holmes. The entertainment publication caught wind of this development after reviewing the voting registration records.

She is now officially going by the name ‘Suri Noelle’ while studying at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Suri, who has completed her sophomore year at the University, is eligible to vote in the state of Pennsylvania, where she has been living since 2024.
According to Page Six, which first broke the news, this fact suggests that Suri may have filed a petition to change her name in New York, where she grew up and lived for the longest time after her birth in Los Angeles. While the legal development officially took place recently, she adopted this name two years ago.
In 2024, Suri listed herself as ‘Suri Noelle’ during the graduation ceremony at New York’s LaGuardia High School. In fact, Katie Holmes was there to celebrate her daughter’s academic milestone, while Cruise reportedly remained MIA.
Those who have followed this family know that the three haven’t been spotted out together in public since the couple’s high-profile divorce in 2012. Beyond her famous identity, Suri has been carving her own path.
Suri Is Building Her Own Path Through College And Theater
Suri has been mostly focusing on her studies and developing an interest in musical theater. Studying at Carnegie Mellon University, the young lady has already made her first steps on stage, performing in the production where she played the role of Morticia Addams in ‘The Addams Family: A New Musical.’

Now she has officially joined the cast of ‘Midsummer!’ the contemporary remake of William Shakespeare’s famous play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.’ Produced by students of Carnegie Mellon University, the performance will take place in Pittsburgh on July 31 and August 1.
The crew will also head to Scotland to perform in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 2024, Katie Holmes praised her daughter while talking to Town & Country. “I’m proud of my daughter,” she said as Suri prepared for college.
“Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her, and I’m happy. I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that,” Holmes added.
With the latest legal move, Suri now joins the group of celebrity kids who prefer not to use their father’s famous surnames, such as Vivienne, Zahara, Shiloh and Maddox Jolie.
