Leonard Nimoy was an American actor, director, and author who was best known for portraying the role of Spock in the ‘Star Trek‘ universe. He is said to have played the character on and off for almost 50 years. Nimoy didn’t have an easy start in Hollywood and mostly played supporting roles in the beginning. He appeared in many TV shows and movies like ‘Wagon Train’, ‘Perry Mason’, ‘Sea Hunt’, ‘Untouchables’, ‘Outer Limits’, and many more. But he only came into the limelight with his role as Spock in the series ‘Star Trek‘ in 1966.
He starred as the alien for ‘Star Trek‘ right until 2013. It is considered Nimoy’s best role and one of the best fan-favorite characters on screen. Nimoy was also a part of the ‘Mission Impossible‘ series. He was also a voice actor for various video games and shows. He died on February 27, 2015, from complications caused due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Nimoy died at the age of 83 which caused widespread shock and grief all-round the globe.

Leonard Nimoy Death
Leonard Nimoy was suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) towards the end of his life. He disclosed the diagnosis in 2014. COPD causes emphysema and bronchitis in affected individuals and the air supply to the body is affected. Breathing becomes difficult for the individual.
Leonard slipped into a coma on February 25, 2015, and subsequently died due to his COPD complications on February 27, 2015. According to his wife Susan Bay, Nimoy was distressed during his final days and knew it was his time to go. She said he was in substantial pain on his last day and wanted to leave as soon as possible.
On March 1st, 2015, the ‘Star Trek‘ actor was laid to rest at the Los Angeles cemetery Hillside Memorial Park. Over 300 family members, friends, and former coworkers, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and J. J. Abrams, attended the funeral. Condolences poured in from across the world for the actor’s family and there was widespread grief across the science fiction community.

Leonard Nimoy’s Famous Last Words
Before his death in February 2015, Leonard Nimoy had posted a tweet on his Twitter account which said, “A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP.” LLAP was a famous quote from Nimoy’s character Spock which meant Live Long and Prosper. The tweet is considered by many his last words to the fans before his death.
His last words to his family were different. He bid a tearful adieu to both of his kids. He told his daughter, Julie, “Julie I love you. I’m very proud of you. I just want you to be able to let me go now. It’s time for me, I can’t do this anymore.”
His last words to his son though were like a lesson to him. His son said about his father’s last words, “Just before he died, he reminded me that Spock, half Vulcan, was the only alien on the bridge of the Enterprise. Spock always wanted to integrate himself among his crewmates, Dad said, ‘to give the best that he had to offer.’ I feel the same way about how my father lived his own life.”
