Edward Abel Smith, as his full name goes, is a businessman. His birth name was Ned Abel Smith, however, he later changed his name to Rocknroll. But then changed it again to the current one, after Kate Winslet talked him into it. Winslet and Smith were linked together for the first time in 2011.
The couple married a year after they were rumored to be dating in 2012, in a private ceremony. The wedding was attended by only Winslet’s two kids, and a couple of their friends and family. Winslet is very fond of her husband in public, although they try to keep a very private relationship.

Abel is the nephew of billionaire Richard Branson. He and Kate Winslet met for the first time on Branson’s Neckar Island, as they were both vacationing there. However, when a massive fire broke out at the property, Winslet was seen helping Smith’s mother escape safely from the house.
The news of their marriage was reported by Guardian in 2012, as they exchanged their vows in a very private ceremony. In an interview with WSJ Magazine in 2015, Winslet commented, “Thank God for Ned, really. He’s just so incredibly supportive, and he’s so much fun. He’s absolutely everything to me.”
