Naomi Judd was born with the name Dian Ellen Judd on January 11, 1946. Along with her daughter Wynonna, she formed a group known as ‘The Judds’. They were famous for their country music and won five Grammy Awards and nine Country Music Association awards. They ceased performing in 1991.
Naomi was later diagnosed with hepatitis. Wynonna Judd continued her passion and performed as a soloist. Sometimes, she would also reunite with her mother for tours such as ‘The Judds’ and perform in concerts. It was reported by the Judd sisters that she died after shooting herself with a gun on April 30, 2022.
Why Did Naomi Judd Choose Suicide?
The day before both Naomi and Wynonna were instated into the ‘Country Music Hall of Fame’, Naomi shot herself and died. Wynonna’s half-sister, Ashley Judd, who is known for her acting and political activism came out to speak about the death of her mother. She told that her mother was struggling with mental health issues throughout her life. She also said that they had to reveal that her mother took her life out even though it was uncomfortable for them to say it to the public. They revealed it because if they did not say it, someone else would most definitely reveal it.
She shared in an interview with Diane Sawyer on ‘Good Morning America’ that her mother could not hold herself for one other day to just see herself in the hall of fame. “That is the level of catastrophe of what was going on inside of her, because the barrier between the regard in which they held her couldn’t penetrate into her heart, and the lie the disease told her was so convincing,” Judd told the interviewer. She added that her brain used to ‘physically hurt’.

Why Is Ashley Judd Going Through A Trauma?
Ashley revealed in the interview that she was the first one who found her mother when she was dead. The incident has affected Ashley really deeply and has caused her mental trauma. She also added that the family did not reveal anything about the incident because they needed time to process the whole incident. They are still not ready to disclose everything about their mother and they want to keep it private, Judd added.
She also implored the importance of taking care of one’s mental health. She urged people to seek help if they are in need of it. Although Naomi Judd was an outspoken advocate for mental health and has written a book ‘River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged With Hope,’ on her triumph over suicidal thoughts, she did die by suicide. It might seem that everyone has got everything together even when they do not show it. Sometimes, even a single passing comment on a post might shatter someone’s mind for a long time. Let us be aware of our own choice of words and actions. Let us try to help people out of misery and seek help if we are in need.
