The world of the NBA seldom witnesses drama off the field. But when there’s something controversial going on, it has a solid reason. In a latest development, NBL on Tuesday suspended Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson for 25 games. It came as a shock for many given his excellent game.
The suspension took effect immediately. This means, to his fans’ disappointment, Thompson will not be available for the Cavaliers’ upcoming game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Why Was Tristan Thompson Suspended?
The NBA authorities had to make such harsh decision due to a violation of the league’s drug policy. The suspension comes after Thompson tested positive for performance-enhancing substances, specifically ibutamoren, and SARM LGD-4033, according to an official NBA statement.
Thompson’s team also responded to the suspension in a statement. The Cleveland Cavaliers publicly declared their full support for the NBA’s anti-drug programs and their decision to suspend their team player. The team also expressed disappointment in the recent news surrounding Thompson.
Though the team acknowledged that his absence from the game would impact their performance, they affirmed their support for Thompson throughout the suspension period. “His time away from game action will have an impact on our team,” the Cavaliers said in a statement. “We stand behind Tristan and offer our support throughout this suspension period,” they added.
Despite the suspension, Thompson will be allowed to practice and travel with the team, as per the rules. He can also be present inside the arena for two hours before tipoff on game days.
The last game Thompson played was on Monday against the Cavaliers. He had come off the bench to score 4 points in 21 minutes as Cleveland beat the Orlando Magic by 126-99. His suspension will likely have an impact on the Cavaliers’ lineup and their upcoming performance in the games.

Thompson Has Bad Blood With The Kardashians
The 32-year-old Tristan Thompson is known for a high-end personal life than his basketball career. He has been a part of the Kardashian-Jenner clan as he dated Khloé Kardashian for a while, and also has two children with her.
His relationship with her saw several ups and downs on reality TV shows like ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians‘ and ‘The Kardashians’. His infidelity had become a major issue on the show. In an episode of ‘The Kardashians‘ from November, Thompson apologized to Kylie Jenner for the family drama he caused. He also agreed to cheating on her half-sister with her own friend Jordyn Woods.
“That wasn’t right and wasn’t smart, made it tough for you and Khloé because, at the end of the day, you have your best friend and then you have your sister, who you love more than anything else,” Thompson had said.
“So it’s 100% on me. I want to say I’m sorry and I feel bad about it. The fact I came with my poor decisions and being a f—ing idiot and just being young and stupid, I want to say I’m sorry again for that,” he added.
