DC Studios is continuing to expand its ever-growing cinematic universe, and one of ‘Superman‘s breakout characters is next in line.

Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific, with a brainy, cool, and showy persona, has already garnered fans with his intelligence, coolness, and showmanship. And now he’s moving on to a solo TV show.

The project is still in its infancy, according to THR. However, the most recent update has brought some more excitement to the fans. Now that an experienced writer is on board, the series is starting to come together as DC seeks to move beyond its biggest characters.

The report says that veteran writer Allan Heinberg has been hired to write the pilot for the show. Heinberg has extensive television and comic book experience, having worked on big names like ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Sex and the City’, etc.

His involvement indicates that DC is serious about the project. Mr. Terrific was an instant hit after his appearance in the film ‘Superman’, where Edi Gathegi brought a blend of intelligence, dry humor, and professionalism to the role.

Holt did not just appear as another ally to the superheroes. He was also a major player in aiding Lois Lane to expose Lex Luthor’s plans and to save Superman from danger. The creative team is now building the groundwork for what may be another significant story in the DC universe that is connected.

Michael Holt is one of the most respected heroes of DC Comics. The brilliant inventor and Olympic-level athlete was introduced in 1997, after a personal tragedy changed his life forever, making him Mr. Terrific. He is a hero who has solved problems with his intellect more than his strength.

And with his advanced T-Spheres, he is one of the greatest minds in the DC Universe. After Superman, the character has become more popular than ever, and a solo series seems like a logical next step. Gathegi will also be back as Mr. Terrific in next year’s ‘Man of Tomorrow’.

This also means the character will continue to play a crucial role in DC’s future. Meanwhile, DC Studios is continuing to grow its TV slate, with another comedy about Jimmy Olsen in development. While Mr. Terrific doesn’t have a release date yet, the announcement is another indication that DC is branching out from its traditional superstars, and fans are eager to keep up.
