Jason Momoa has finally taken on the mantle that many DC fans thought was his perfect fit. The actor makes his much-anticipated appearance as Lobo in ‘Supergirl’, and immediately brings one of the most memorable moments to the film.
His screen time is short, but Momoa’s portrayal of the notorious bounty hunter leaves a lasting impression on viewers and brings one of DC’s most dangerous and entertaining antiheroes to life. The new DCU gets a character that loves chaos, violence, and just doing things his own way.
Why Lobo Is Unlike Any Other DC Character

Lobo, nicknamed “The Main Man,” is an immortal bounty hunter feared for his brutality and fearlessness throughout the galaxy. In the comics, he comes from a peaceful planet called Czarnia. However, his story is one of darkness as he exterminates his own species and becomes known as the Last Czarnian.

That act also makes him almost impossible to slay. By killing the entire race, Lobo essentially gives himself immortality, as only another Czarnian can truly end his life. His near-invulnerability, almost unlimited healing powers, and ability to wield devastating weapons make him a formidable foe for even Superman in the comic books.
‘Supergirl’ doesn’t go into a lot of detail about his past. However, it also doesn’t take long to build his reputation as a bad boy. Kara calls him an immortal bounty hunter with a god complex, who destroyed his own world. That provides enough detail for the viewer to know why everybody is afraid of him.
Jason Momoa’s Small Role Could Lead To Something Much Bigger

Lobo is introduced in ‘Supergirl’ while he is chasing a big bounty, and he eventually crosses paths with Kara and Ruthye’s mission. As usual, he doesn’t want to save the day. He just wants to get the job done and get the reward.

Despite the hard-boiled facade, however, the movie suggests the anti-heroic elements that have made Lobo so appealing in contemporary DC comics. He manages to break free from captivity and then assists Kara in the climactic battle, even declaring her the winner before he rides off into space on his famous Spacehog.
It’s not just a one-off appearance, but rather the start of a much greater journey. Momoa’s Lobo has all the makings of a regular fan favorite. And one thing is for sure, at this moment, the DCU has got the perfect Main Man in its hands, whether he will be in a movie, a TV show, or an animation.
