Following several delays because of the pandemic and release date changes, ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ is all set to release on the big screen on March 17, 2023. Zachary Levi plays the eponymous superhero in the film.
Audiences are eagerly waiting to enjoy the adventures of Billy Batson and his team members once again as they will be taking on a new group of villains. It remains to be seen if they win or lose but some characters would be an important part of the storyline. Let’s check who is appearing in the sequel.

Characters Appearing In ‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods‘
1. Billy Batson AKA Shazam
Shazam is the champion of an ancient wizard. As we saw in the first film, he has the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury. The first film was able to solve the mystery behind his childhood which means there is nothing much left to explore about the character.
2. Frederick “Freddy” Freeman
Frederick “Freddy” Freeman is a physically disabled foster brother of Billy Batson and he is a fan of superheroes. The original character was named Captain Marvel Jr. in the DC comics and Freddy was his alter-ego, who he saved from the villainous Captain Nazi.
3. Anthea
Anthea, the daughter of Atlas would be an important part of ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’. Although detailed information about the character has not been revealed yet, she will be portrayed by Rachel Zegler who gained recognition for her performance as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s musical romantic drama film, West Side Story.

4. Eugene Choi
Choi is the younger foster brother of Billy Batson and he has a specific interest in games. His usual form will be played by Ian Chen and his adult superhero form will be portrayed by Ross Butler in ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’.
5. Darla Dudley
Darla Dudley is the foster sister of Billy Batson who was left behind by her parents. Although she had to battle with a few things as she grew up, she loves her foster family and develops affection for anyone she meets. Just like the other kids, she shares Batson’s power by saying “Shazam!”
6. Kalypso
Kalypso has been simply mentioned as the daughter of Atlas and further things about her character shall be revealed once the film is released. She will be portrayed by ‘Charlie’s Angels’ star, Lucy Liu.
7. Shazam
Shazam is the last surviving member of the Council of Wizards and he is the one who offered his powers to Billy Batson, making him the champion. Djimon Hounsou portrayed the role in the first film and he will return to play the character once again in ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’.
8. Hespera
Just like Anthea and Kalypso, Hespera is also a daughter of Atlas. The character will be portrayed by Helen Mirren, who is well-known for her appearances in different films and TV shows.
