Importance Of The Name Fairy Tail
Fairy Tail’s founding member Mavis Vermillion named the guild Fairy Tail. Since Mavis’ homeland was Tenrou Island, they declared that island as the holy land of the guild where the first master rested.
In the Fairy Tail Zero arc, we find the three members squabbling among themselves regarding the name of their guild. Shortly after Mavis named Fairy Tail. The significance of the name was shrouded in mysteries and had the perfect tone that even the existing guild carries.

The Founding Members Of The Guild
Mavis Vermillion was the founding member of Fairy Tail. More like, she gave the name of the guild. Along with her, Precht, Warrod Sequen, and Yuri Dreyar were also the founding members. After her death, Precht was the 2nd head of the guild and later passed on the seat to Makarov Dreyar the son of Yuri Dreyar.
Prior to meeting Mavis, Precht, Warrod, and Yuri were part of the treasure hunters. Though at first, they approached Mavis and Tenrou Island to find treasure, they later befriend each other and go on a journey to the Hargeon Port and get tangled up in their fight with Blue Skull.
During these incidents, Mavis gets the curse of Ankhseram Curse, the same as Zeref Dragneel, and leaves the Fairy Tail guild. Zeref once again meets with Mavis. Shortly after Mavis passes away and Zeref drops Mavis’ body in front of Precht. Precht takes a seat of the second guild master, until passing it to Makarov.
