10 Celebrities Who Got Canceled In 2022

There have been several astonishing stories regarding celebrities in 2022. These canceled stars have managed to upset a lot of people. Furthermore, they frequently damaged their reputation by refusing to accept responsibility for their scandalous actions. What exactly is cancel culture? In a nutshell, it refers to the concept of withdrawing support from a person, their career, their popularity, and their reputation due to anything they have said or done that is deemed unacceptable.

The majority of the time, celebrities are “canceled” because they are well-known public figures with a sizable following and something they did or said is reported to have harmed a specific person, people, or community. So who are the top ten celebrities who got canceled this year? Let’s take a look.

10. Matt Damon

When Matt Damon revealed to the Sunday Times of London in August 2021 that one of his children had confronted him “months ago” for using the homophobic term “f****t” in a joke, he enraged LGBTQ+ groups. Although Damon received a thrashing online and several upset fans stopped following him, there have been no immediate negative effects on his career. It is unknown if the actor was dismissed from any projects as a result of his remarks. Damon was marketing his movie ‘Stillwater‘ around the time the controversy started to spread, but the movie only made a dismal $20 million at the box office.

9. James Franco

Nobody supports someone who takes advantage of children and exploits their power to sexually abuse others. This is precisely what James Franco was accused of doing in 2018. Five women have subsequently come forward to accuse him. Along with the general public’s rejection of Franco throughout the course of this year, Seth Rogen, his longtime friend and fellow actor, cut connections with him and declared that he had no longer any interest in working with Franco in the years ahead. Franco has resumed acting, but because of the bad associations, his fame has faded.

8. Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres

Probably how nice Ellen DeGeneres is seen as on her TV show isn’t what she actually is! As people started to accuse DeGeneres, the true nature of the host’s attitude eventually came to light. People accused her of being racist, harsh, and strict with the workers. They also said she is dictatorial and loves to shame others (which is pretty apparent on the show). It is clear why this former TV anchor was fired in the first place given the obvious amount of misbehavior that she has been involved in. As of now, her show has been canceled.

7. James Corden

This isn’t really the first time that James Corden has been called out for his behavior. Another issue came on when a restaurant in New York City called Corden out for his “abusive” actions. Apparently, he verbally abused the workers of a restaurant. Since then, many have shared their own stories against Corden on Twitter and TikTok.

6. J.K. Rowling

It started with J.K. Rowling liking a tweet by a transphobic woman. And from there it all went downhill. After that she made a series of comments, dismissing the idea of transgenderism, and received backlash from a number of people. Many people started to link J.K. Rowling to the radical trans-exclusionary feminism (TERF) movement. Fellow Potterverse stars – Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, Eddie Redmayne and Rupert Grint also spoke about the issue.

5. Ned Fulmer

Ned Fulmer, one of the four original members of the well-known comedy group The Try Guys, was removed after he acknowledged to having a “consensual” workplace affair. It all started with a woman on TikTok who claimed to have witnessed Ned cheating on his wife, Ariel, with another woman. She then sent the proof to Ariel and after a lot of frenzy and speculation, Ned admitted to having had an affair.

4. Amber Heard

Following the Depp-Heard trial this year, Amber Heard quickly became one of the most hated people in Hollywood. After Depp was removed from iconic roles – Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts‘ and Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates‘ franchise, fans demanded that Amber should be removed from ‘Aquaman‘ too. The trial, which was a rollercoaster of emotions, led to Amber getting canceled and many people calling her a “lying manipulative psychopath”.

3. Will Smith

Will Smith attracted attention for his Oscar stunt- where he went on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock who made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Will got banned from the Oscars for a decade. Not only that, but he received a lot of backlash from fans around the world who criticized him for breaking the conduct for the Academy Awards, many fans even boycotted all his movies.

2. Adam Levine

Sumner Stroh allegedly was having an affair with Adam Levine for a year, which triggered Adam’s cancellation period. Following the reports, several women came forward and said Adam had flirtatiously messaged them. Evidently, Adam even intended to give his wife Behati Prinsloo’s newborn kid the name of the woman he had an affair with. Yeah, that wasn’t quite what we were expecting from a person who sang ‘Girls Like You‘ for his Victoria’s Secret model wife.

1. Kanye West

If there’s one person who has constantly made headlines this year then that’s Kanye West. It all started with him and Kim Kardashian getting divorced and Ye constantly harassing her new boyfriend Pete Davidson online. This year Kanye pulled off numerous stunts like his anti-semitic views, his “White Lives Matter” statements, etc. All of which led to all the big brands dropping him as their ambassador. Ye also lost the tag of a billionaire. Despite everything, Ye still has loyal fans but he falls into the canceled category because no one wants to work with him now.
