Who Is Pablo Escobar’s Son Juan Escobar? Where Is He Now?

Pablo Escobar has become a very well-known name thanks to Netflix’s ‘Narcos’. However, let us give you a short introduction to the infamous criminal. Pablo Escobar was a Colombian drug lord, narcoterrorist, and politician. He is also known as the founder of the Medellín Cartel.

Who Is Sebastián Marroquín?

Born on 24 February 1977, Juan Pablo Escobar Henao is the son of Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar. However, after Escobar’s death, Juan Pablo Escobar Henao, his mother, and his sister Manuela Escobar fled from Columbia. And Juan took the name Sebastián Marroquín off a phone book as his new identity. 

Sebastian prefers not to be linked to Pablo Escobar and the criminal activities in Columbia. He has often said in interviews how the use of the title Escobar led to him and his family receiving death threats. Sebastian also does not associate with the Medellín Cartel or the remaining illegal drug trade in Colombia. 

With his new identity as Sebastián Marroquín, he graduated from college with a degree in architecture. Now Sebastian lives with his wife and son in Palermo Soho, Buenos Aires. He has become an architect and an author.

Does Sebastián Marroquín Have Any Relation With Columbia Now?

Sebastián Marroquín has visited Columbia twice after Pablo Escobar’s death. Once to pay his respects at his father’s grave and another time for shooting a documentary. Sebastian is part of the 2009 Argentine documentary ‘Sins of My Father’. 

In the documentary, Sebastian visits the families of those his father has ordered assassinated. Through the documentary, Sebastian wanted to end the hate and rebuild new relationships. 

Sebastián Marroquín has also penned a book under his birth name- Juan Pablo Escobar. He is the author of the book ‘Pablo Escobar: My Father‘. Apart from this Sebastian likes to maintain his distance from Columbia and the illegal activities going on there.
