The question has been on everyone’s mind for years: Who will follow in the footsteps of Iron Man, Captain America, and the original Avengers? Now, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ seems to be prepared to respond to it.
The Real Mission Of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Isn’t What Fans Think

Much of the buzz around the film has revolved around the return of beloved characters like Steve Rogers, Thor, and even Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. However, the bigger story of the film may be the introduction of the heroes that will lead Marvel for the next decade.

‘Doomsday’ is more of an audition for the MCU’s future than a reunion tour in many ways. The original Avengers made the MCU a global phenomenon. However, their time seems to be over. Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff sacrificed their lives in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, and Steve Rogers retired from active duty.
While there are still some characters from the past, Marvel has been working on several possible replacements for them over the years, but hasn’t consolidated them into one grand event. That is not the case with ‘Doomsday’.
Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Shang-Chi, Shuri’s Black Panther, and the New Avengers are likely to be central to the multiversal battle. The Fantastic Four will also get involved, providing fans with an opportunity to witness Marvel’s newest corner meet with some familiar faces.
This may be the first time that some fans will get to meet characters that appeared after the Infinity Saga. It’s exciting to see these heroes finally get the recognition they deserve. After years of separate adventures, they’re being placed at the center of Marvel’s biggest story.
Marvel’s Future Depends On What Happens Next

The stakes are much more than just Doctor Doom. Marvel wants viewers to come out of ‘Doomsday’ with an investment in the next generation of heroes. If viewers get more pumped up about Shang-Chi or Fantastic Four’s Yelena Belova or Sam Wilson after the credits roll, the film will have achieved more than a blockbuster spectacle.

Legacy characters and the return of X-Men may help to connect the dots between Marvel’s past and future. While nostalgia can draw people to the movies, new heroes need to keep them engaged.
But before Marvel can look backward one last time, ‘Doomsday’ must prove that the MCU has a future worth looking forward to. And that challenge may be even bigger than Doctor Doom himself.
