Marvel Studios is wasting absolutely no time with ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 3. Season 2 just completed, and yet the next season is well into production, with showrunner Dario Scardapane saying that the show is now halfway done with filming.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 Is Turning Matt Murdock’s Worst Nightmare Into Reality

Scardapane announced that production will be completed in early July, but the team is still working on the final script. The quick turnaround is a testament to Marvel’s faith in the series, particularly following Daredevil’s return as he became one of the most lauded street-level characters in the MCU.

“I’m writing the finale right now. We wrap in early July at this point. So we’re right about the halfway mark. All the scripts except the last one are written. We’re shooting episode block 2, so we’re just wrapping up episode 4 right now. We’re heading into block 5 and 6, and then June-July will be the end,” he told EW.
Frankly, it’s just as if Marvel was finally getting it right for these characters: less stakes, harsher payoffs, and more emotionally fractured heroes struggling to survive impossible situations. Season 2 did just that.
Matt made Daredevil’s identity public, ended Wilson Fisk’s political career, and was eventually locked up. It was one of the most depressing endings Marvel has ever had in a long, long time.
Season 3 Might Follow Daredevil’s Darkest Story Ever

The next season will be loosely based on the highly popular comic series arc, The Devil in Cell-Block D. This story follows Matt Murdock’s descent into a psychological and physical nightmare while serving time.

Marvel has the perfect setup for their version of the story, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t doing its own thing. The drama doesn’t end there, as season 3 is set a year or so after Matt’s identity reveal.
So, the MCU Hell’s Kitchen could look vastly different when he returns. And come to think of it, having Matt spend a lot of time locked up in prison, with criminals, corrupt officials, and old enemies knowing exactly who he is, sounds like a nightmare.
In addition to Matt’s fall, season 3 promises to be a big event for reuniting the Marvel heroes of the Netflix era, namely, the Defenders. In the meantime, Punisher is steadily becoming a key player in the street-fighting future of Marvel.
At this point, ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ no longer feels like a simple revival. It’s rapidly turning into the groundwork for a whole new area of the MCU, one that feels gritty, connected, and alive once more.
