Just as it felt like the story of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 2 is drawing to a close, Marvel is already pushing fans towards the next act, and surprisingly, it is not a second season.
Rather, the focus is switched to ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’, which comes right after the finale. It may appear initially like a side story. It’s not. This is Marvel being deliberate.
Punisher Is About To Take Over With ‘One Last Kill’

Timing in this case is not by chance or by mere convenient timing. It seems to me that by dropping ‘One Last Kill’ immediately after the end of ‘Born Again’, the sense of a bonus is minimized, and the impression of a lost chapter is created. And, frankly, that is a clever step.

Season 2 has kept Frank Castle off-screen, which hasn’t gone unnoticed. The fans have been left with bits and pieces about his whereabouts and what he has been up to. Rather than stuffing those answers into the last episode, Marvel is allowing that story to breathe.
This method also tells something larger concerning the way the MCU is developing. Any arc does not necessarily fit into a single show anymore. Stories can be extended across formats, characters can enter and exit, and the world can seem smaller due to it. ‘One Last Kill’, in any case, does not appear like a detour. It feels like a teeth-gritting epilogue.
Why This Could Strengthen ‘Born Again’s Ending

The truth of the matter is, even solid seasons leave loose ends. That is not failure, it is an opportunity. And ‘One Last Kill’ has a good opportunity to seal off what ‘Born Again’ leaves in its wake.
The missing element is obviously Frank Castle. However, there is space to make the effect of all that has happened, particularly the after-effects of Wilson Fisk’s takeover, even greater.

A dedicated story on Frank is not all about catching up with him. It is about demonstrating how the city appears from another angle. And, to tell the truth, it is that juxtaposition that makes this part of the MCU so appealing.
Daredevil is a fighter for justice. Punisher implements his own variant of it. When the philosophies come into conflict or even co-exist, the storytelling becomes more acute.
