One of the strangest comparisons in the MCU is the difference between Captain Marvel and Vision. Carol Danvers was exposed to energy from the Tesseract and became one of the most powerful heroes in the universe, while Vision literally had the Mind Stone embedded in his forehead and still never seemed to reach her level of raw power.
At first glance, it feels like the math simply doesn’t add up. However, the important thing is that Infinity Stones don’t automatically give every character the same type or amount of power.
Carol Became A Living Powerhouse Through the Tesseract
Carol’s transformation wasn’t simply a case of receiving a tiny portion of the Tesseract’s energy. The explosion of the Tesseract-powered engine fundamentally altered her physiology. Combined with the Kree blood transfusion that kept her alive, Carol became something much more unusual: a living conduit for enormous cosmic energy.
Her powers are directly reflected in her physical abilities, allowing her to fly through space, absorb and release energy, and overpower incredibly powerful opponents. That is why Captain Marvel can feel almost absurdly powerful when she cuts loose. The energy didn’t just sit inside her; it became part of what she is.
Vision Was Built for Something Completely Different
Vision’s relationship with the Mind Stone works differently. The Stone was essential to his creation and consciousness, but Vision wasn’t designed to be a walking nuclear weapon. His abilities are much more versatile. He can phase through objects, manipulate his density, fly, possess extraordinary intelligence, and fire powerful energy beams.

In other words, the Mind Stone gave Vision an incredibly advanced set of abilities rather than simply maximizing his destructive potential. And that’s really the key difference. Carol is essentially a cosmic powerhouse who happens to be a superhero, while Vision is an artificial being whose greatest advantage is the combination of intelligence, versatility, and the Mind Stone.
So, yes, it can look strange that someone exposed to Tesseract energy can become more physically powerful than someone carrying an entire Infinity Stone. But the MCU has never established that more Infinity Stone exposure automatically means greater physical strength. Different powers, different transformations, and ultimately, very different kinds of heroes.
