The release order of the ‘Jurassic Park’ films lines up with their chronological order. The first one was released in 1993, based on the Michael Chrichton novel of the same name. It formed the base for the movie narrative, wherein dinosaurs are shown to have been cloned by extracting DNA from prehistoric mosquitoes. An entrepreneur uses the clones to fill a theme park on Isla Nublar, a fictitious island.

The narrative gets a twist with a tropical storm, while a saboteur kills the power to steal corporate secrets and deactivates a security system. As the dinosaurs are left unrestrained, the island tour turns into a deadly escape mission.

    2. The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The second part was released four years after the first one. ‘The Lost World’ brings back Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm and Attenborough’s John Hammond in the lead roles alongside Julianne Moore’s paleontologist Sarah Harding.

The movie narrative is set on a second island, named Isla Sorna, where Hammond also clones dinosaurs. The abandoned island has dinosaurs that are left to fend for themselves. A power struggle for control of Hammnod’s company, InGen, sparks a war between two factions of Isla Sorna.

Released in 2001, the third part has Sam Neill as Alan Grant, with Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler also reprising her role. The story is set another four years after what happens in the last part. It is set on Isla Sorna, where a man and a boy have gone missing. Grant meanwhile needs money for his dinosaur research, and therefore accepts to give a helicopter tour of the island in exchange for funding. The tour ultimately turns out to be a rescue mission chartered by the missing boy’s parents.

The dinosaurs welcome the humans with hostility and there’s another nature-human conflict. The movie is available for streaming and renting on Amazon Prime Video
