Johnny Depp Opens Up About Why He Resonates With His Character Of King Louis XV
Speaking about his character of King Louis XV in the French film ‘Jeanne du Barry’, Johnny Depp opened up about the complexities he faced while playing a historical figure. “I think for someone in that position, and again, some of this stuff resonates for me — not that I’m a king of any sort,” the actor said.
He further emphasized how his character resonated with his own life because of the secluded life that the King lived out of his circle of friends. “But it resonates just in the sense that this guy, within his circle, let’s say, within his world, he had to be available kind of at all times. And yet he was, in a sense, hidden away and living his life that way,” the actor said.
“So the layers between him and the real world, they start to get thicker and weirder… It has been something like that for me at times,” Depp added, further asserting that he would not ever complain about this as a problem, although the feeling exists with him.
“There is a part of you that is kind of cut off from the world. Where, if you go out, it gets weird, you know? It just gets weird,” Depp said while trying to explain his point.
