‘Twilight’: How Much Money Did The 5 Movies Make?

In the world of silver screens where each drama project has the potential to take over the world, few actually manage to do that. One can argue that the Twilightmovie series is one of them and comes out of the argument standing correct.

This vampire love saga turned into a phenomenon that left a deep impact on pop culture but ‘Twilight’s popularity is not just limited to the fantasy vampire genre. The 2008 movie resulted in a full five-film series and also won in terms of financial success.

This vampire overtake of the fantasy romance genre was the result of author Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling novel ‘Twilight’. Before getting the chance to be portrayed on the silver screen, Stephenie’s books had taken over the reader community with her blend of romance, fantasy, and the moment’s hyper-fixation, vampires.

The saga began in 2008 with the first movie of the series called ‘Twilight’. Starring 18-year-old Kristen Stewart and 22-year-old Robert Pattinson as the lead characters Bella and Edward, this movie became the hit of the year. The 2008 movie made approximately $393.6 million in revenue with a low budget of $37 million making it an unprecedented success.

The saga continued with the second installment of the series titled ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’. It came out the next year raking in $709.7 million. The 2010 part of the fantasy film series ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ brought in $698.5 million bordering with the success of 2011’s ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ which earned $712.2 million.

For the final movie of this pop culture gem, 2012’s ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ emerged as the highest-grossing movie of the series with approximately $829.7 million in the pocket. All five films of the series made an enormous contribution to its box office colossal success. Adding the numbers, all five films netted $3.3 billion worldwide making it one of the highest-grossing film franchises in history.

Keeping aside its monetary aspect for a while, the film series had a lasting effect on Hollywood which in all honesty, is still a milking cow of concepts. The storyline of a quiet girl in a mysterious town bumping into a broody vampire with a secret werewolf living amongst. Yeah, the fans of the genre are still feasting on it.

The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘Teen Wolf’s success is somewhere credited to girls who obsessed over ‘Team Edward’ and ‘Team Jacob’. The movie series changed the lives of the actors as well. Since wrapping up the iconic film series Kristen Stewart has tried it all from indie dramas to big-budget movies. Robert Pattinson grew into a critically acclaimed star with films like ‘The Lighthouse’ and ‘Tenet.’
