The Reason Every Time I Die Disbanded
On January 17, Every Time I Die made the announcement of their breakup following a public dispute with their vocalist Keith Buckley in December. While Buckley believed the band should have ended their journey sooner, the remaining members have shown a willingness to continue making music under a different name. During the promotion of their ninth album ‘Radical‘ in December 2021, Every Time I Die was on tour when they announced that Keith Buckley would be stepping away from the band for the final three shows to prioritize his mental health.
Guitarist Jordan Buckley stated in an Instagram post that the last performance of Andy, Jordan, Steve, and drummer Clayton “Goose” Holyoak with Every Time I Die was on December 11, 2021. “While we hoped to come to an agreed upon legal statement that outlined the truth, we were informed today of something planned to be released not mutually agreed upon that consists of inaccuracies and control a narrative to benefit one,” read the post. He further stated that there has been no direct communication with Keith, either due to the impossibility of reaching him or him deliberately cutting off all communication with the band.

Keith Buckley’s Response To The Announcement
In response, Keith Buckley shared his own post that seemed to feature a copy of a separation agreement sent to him by the other four members. The agreement requested that Buckley refrain from making any statements, be it written or spoken, or through social media, that could defame, criticize, or disparage the professional name, image, reputation, practices, or conduct of the band or its represented members.
Furthermore, the letter requested that Buckley refrains from using the band’s name, logo, or any intellectual property until a formal separation agreement is signed. It also warned that if there are any infringements of the band’s rights or defamatory statements made about the band or its members, the other four members have been instructed to take legal action to the fullest extent available under the law. The letter stated that while an amicable resolution is preferred, legal action will be taken if necessary.
