Just like every other band, Chainsmokers also has an interesting backstory about the origin of the band’s name. And surprisingly it is not what you think. The only thing that’s smoking and creating sizzles is their music and performances earning them Billboard music awards and American music awards. But the fans are interested to know the story behind the duo naming their band Chainsmokers.

In an interview with Billboard Alex said “We actually met each other while we were both taking a smoke break outside so it was serendipitous that we ended up adopting The Chainsmokers as our name.” In addition, Alex Paul thought it would be a good way to connect with people considering his previous experience of smoking. Moreover, he said the domain name was also not taken, and the duo was inspired by Hugh Grant’s role in 2002’s ‘About a Boy‘.
