The wait is finally over! Sabrina Carpenter, who has been crushing it this summer with both her hits ‘Espresso’ and ‘Please Please Please’, has finally dropped the highly anticipated album, and there’s no doubt that it’s the album of the summer.
As the album neared its release date, the pop star sat down for several interviews to discuss the creative process behind its making. Here’s everything she revealed to Zane Lowe in a recent interview, and why she’s afraid to ask for espresso in cafes.
The Meaning Behind Sabrina Carpenter’s New Album
While many speculated that ‘Short N Sweet’ has everything to do with the singer’s height as the name suggests, that actually isn’t the case. Sitting down with Zane Lowe for an interview, Sabrina Carpenter revealed what her true intentions were when she named the album that.
“I called it Short n’ Sweet for multiple reasons. It was not because I’m vertically challenged,” said Carpenter. “I thought about some of these relationships and how some of them were the shortest I’ve ever had, and they affected me the most.”
She also let fans in that she now questions ordering espressos in a cafe because — let’s face it — it’s almost like she coined the term after her mega success when it comes to ‘Espresso‘.
“I didn’t invent espresso. The Italians are so mad. What’s so crazy, this is the part of me that feels like an idiot,” the singer said, adding, “Every time I see a cafe, there’s just a sign that says espresso, and I’m like, ‘Yes.’ Nothing to do with me. I know I’m a monster…I do have to question ordering it a lot now. I’m just like…they’re just waiting for me to say it and I’m like, ‘Tea.’

A Barry Keoghan Reference In ‘Short N Sweet’
Among the twelve songs included in Sabrina Carpenter’s latest album, fans were particularly drawn to one sizzling, sultry song about Barry Keoghan and the chemistry they both share in bed.
The song opens with a reference to the first time they met and how they eventually started dating. In the chorus, she sings, “Who’s the cute boy with the white jacket and the thick accent?“
She then sings about their chemistry in bed, “But I bеt we’d have really good bеd chem/ How you pick me up, pull ’em down, turn me ’round/ Oh, it just makes sense/ How you talk so sweet when you’re doin’ bad things“
She also slips in a ‘Saltburn’ reference as she sings, “Who’s the cute guy with the wide, blue eyes and the big bad mm?” referring to Barry’s blue eyes and his nude scene in ‘Saltburn‘.
