While Asian Swifties have waited for Taylor Swift to bring the ‘Eras Tour’ to various Asian countries. Turns out that won’t be happening anytime soon as the Singapore government has signed a deal with Swift that prevents her from performing in any other country.

The information was released by Thai Prime Minister Sretta Thavisin, where he said, “If there are five shows, then it is 500 million baht, but the Singapore government is astute.”

He then added, “If she came to Thailand, it would have been cheaper to organize it here, and I believe she would be able to attract more sponsors and tourists to Thailand. Even though we would have to subsidize at least 500 million baht, it would be worth it.”

Following this information, backlashed followed the singer for her ‘business-like’ move.

Fans on social media were quick to criticise the singer for signing a deal as such with the Singaporean government.

While many expressed their upsetness that she chose a few million bucks over her fans’ happiness.

A Philippines lawmaker also addressed the whole situation and said “I don’t think we should just let things like this pass. We should still officially register our opposition. It also runs contrary to the principle of consensus-base.”

Meanwhile Singaporean Culture Minister Edwin Tong defended his government and said that Swift has not received such a huge fund to perform exclusively.

“I can say that it is not accurate and not anywhere as high as speculated, but due to business confidentiality, we cannot reveal the specific size and conditions of the grant,” the minister revealed.

As of now, Taylor has not spoken about the whole feud she has startedbetween the ASEAN countries.
