1. Luther Hargreeves/Number One – Super Strength

Gifted with Super Strength at birth, Luther Hargreeves (portrayed by Tom Hopper), also known as Number 1, was the first to be adopted into The Umbrella Academy.

Later in the episode, it is shown that he had developed a hulking, gorilla-like torso after a mission gone wrong, because of which, he was sent to the moon to collect data (later disclosed that it was actually all for nothing and Reginald just didn’t want him around after his transformation), only to return for their father’s funeral. Luther is just as physically strong as he is sensitive, empathetic, and compassionate mentally.

Although Luther’s powers are a little more limited as compared to that of his siblings, he’s still the go-to guy for any sort of physical altercations that the team is faced with throughout the three seasons.

2. Diego Hargreeves/Number Two – Precision With Weapons

The second adopted child at Umbrella Academy is Diego Hargreeves or Number Two, played by David Castañeda, whose power is trajectory manipulation, which he mainly applies as throwing knives with supernatural precision.

Although his ability seems to be superhuman proficiency with thrown objects, with knives as his weapons, Season 2 clarifies that it’s a form of telekinesis that’s specific to moving objects (called trajectory manipulation) when he stops a barrage of bullets mid-air and redirects them away, throwing them to the side all at once. Diego is arguably the most acrobatic because of his work as a vigilante/mercenary.

3. Allison Hargreeves/Number Three – “I Heard A Rumor…”

The first daughter and the third child to be adopted into the Hargreeves family is Allison Hargreeves, or Number Three, played by Emmy Raver-Lampman whose superpower is controlling and compelling people into doing what she wants just by saying “I heard a rumor.”

In the series, Alison has a very strong and powerful gift of making people work according to her wants but it is shown that the power has its side effects just the same. It was revealed in Season 1 that Allison had lost custody of her daughter as a result of utilizing her power on her. Reginald also made Allison “rumor” that Viktor was just an ordinary guy, unlike his exceptional brothers, during one of the darkest periods in the Hargreeves’ past.

In Season 2 when she regains her voice after Viktor sliced right through her vocal cords with his violin bow-rendering her temporarily mute in Season 1, she is hesitant to use her powers due to the havoc they have wreaked on those she loves., but she is hesitant to use her powers due to the havoc they have wreaked on those she loves.

4. Klaus/Number Four – Communicating With The Dead

Klaus (Robert Sheehan) a.k.a. Number Four is the fourth amongst the Hargreeves siblings to be adopted, who has the powers of communicating with the dead.

Although his substance abuse and indulgence in drugs limit his powers- we have seen him communicating with Ben, one of the dead Hargreeves siblings, the most throughout the seasons. We have seen that because of the trauma from the harsh training from Reginald at a young age, Klaus drowns himself in substance abuse to avoid the voices of the dead. This is also one of the reasons why it’s believed that Klaus is the one sibling whose power’s potential is yet to be fully tapped into in the coming season.

5. Number Five – Teleportation

Number Five, played by Aidan Gallagher, is gifted with the power of teleporting through space and time, which he can use to travel short distances (across a room) and considerably longer ones (decades into the future). Five is also able to take people with him as he time-travels.

Deemed to be The Umbrella Academy’s oldest and wisest sibling, Number Five is shown to have not perfected his abilities yet.

In season 1, a 13-year-old Five jumped ahead to the future and found himself in a world that had already been destroyed, but he was unable to jump back to his original time. Still imprisoned in his 13-year-old body, a 58-year-old Five manages to time travel back to 2019 after spending 40 years alone on a devastated planet and working as a hitman for the Commission.

6. Ben/Number Six – Summoning Monsters From His Body

Although Ben, a.k.a Number Six, died on a mission when the Hargreeves were kids, he was able to stay by Klaus’s side as a ghost. Being the sixth child adopted into the Umbrella Academy, his ability can possess monsters from other dimensions under his skin.

Later in the seasons, we see that Ben also has the power to possess Klaus’s body which adds to the thrill of the series.

7. Viktor/Number Seven – Sound Absorption And Energy Transformation

The seventh child to be adopted into the Umbrella Academy is Viktor or Number Seven (played by Elliot Page), who is seen to be the most unpredictable sibling of all.

In the early parts of Season 1, he was told by Reginald at a young age that, unlike his adopted siblings, he possessed no special abilities of his own. But by the end of the season it is disclosed that he was born with the power of sound absorption, wherein he can absorb sound waves and amplify them inside his body, which transforms into a surge of energy he can burst outward.

Because Viktor was brainwashed into believing he never had powers from an early age and therefore was never properly trained like the rest of his siblings, he has limited to no understanding and control over his powers- which is why we see him go into full “White Violin” mode (as he is referred to in the comics) at his orchestra concert, setting off an apocalypse in the finale of Season 1.

Although this is just the gist of how the Hargreeves sibling’s powers were introduced to us, fans are excited more than ever to see what advancements the 4th and final season could bring to the table.
