The 2023 epic space opera film ‘Rebel Moon‘, starring Sofia Boutella, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, and Charlie Hunnam, stirred up excitement among the fans, but not so much at the box office.
Zack Snyder’s science fiction epic blew up at the box office, with an extremely disappointing score on Rotten Tomatoes. Although the film is set to be the first part of a bigger and more exciting universe, the failure of this ‘Star Wars‘-inspired saga will have a domino effect on the second part of ‘Rebel Moon’ as well.
‘Rebel Moon’ Registers A Disastrous Fate
The critical reception for ‘Rebel Moon’ on Rotten Tomatoes stands at a devastating 21%, setting up the record for Zack Snyder’s worst Rotten Tomatoes score after ‘Sucker Punch’ which stands at 22%. The film has been criticized for being an unimaginative and shallow retread of sci-fi conventions, lacking in originality.
Despite the negative and devastating scores, not everything about the film was disappointing. Similar to the other works of Zack Snyder, the film is appreciated for its visually stunning aesthetics and impressive action sequences.

The Disappointing Scores Of ‘Rebel Moon’ Sets Up A Poor Foundation
Part one of ‘Rebel Moon’ has a low critic score of 21 % on Rotten Tomatoes which might affect the universe that Zack Snyder has in mind. Although the fans who are aware of the director’s work, might line up for the film, sadly it will fail to attract any new audience.
‘Rebel Moon’ Part Two will be released five months after the release of Part One. However the strategy of releasing a movie in two parts is not exactly a smart move, and the negative review of Part One can affect the viewership of the second part. Both the parts will also be getting R-rated director’s cuts, which adds another doubtful move to the marketing strategy.
