Amber Heard Says She Is “Terrified” Johnny Depp Will Sue Her Again For Defamation

The highly-publicized defamation case involving Amber Heard and Johnny Depp is finally over. The six-week-long trial was ruled in the favor of Depp. This left the actress “heartbroken” and in a huge financial crisis.

Heard expressed her disappointment with the final verdict on social media. She also talked about her hardships during her first post-trial interview. Heard said she would stand by her claims of enduring domestic abuse at the hands of Depp till her “dying day”. She even opened up about the possibility of her ex-husband suing her for defamation, again.

The ‘Aquaman‘ star sat down for an interview with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie and said that she is “terrified” that Johnny Depp will sue her again for defamation. “I guess that’s what a defamation lawsuit is meant to do, it’s meant to take your voice.”

Heard also told Guthrie that she stands by “every word” of the testimony, further claiming that Depp lied repeatedly when he said that he hadn’t abused her during their “ugly” marriage.

Through the interview, she voiced her frustration with the way the trial played out in the court of public opinion, calling it an example of “run amok“, especially with the fans in the courtroom and on social media.

She explained, “What I learned in that trial is, it’s never going to be good enough,” she said. “If you have proof, then it was a scheme — it was a hoax. If you don’t have proof, it didn’t happen. If you have a bruise, it’s fake. If you don’t have a bruise, then violence clearly didn’t hurt you. If you told people, then you’re hysterical. If you didn’t tell anyone, it didn’t happen.”

Heard was quick to state that none of her actions was driven by vindictiveness. “This would be a really lousy way to get vengeance,” she said. She showed concern about the repercussions the ruling could have on the willingness of other abuse survivors to come forward. “I hope this doesn’t have the chilling effect that I worry it may have on other people.”

Guthrie then asked Heard whether there was any evidence she wished the jury could have seen. The actress pointed to a collection of documents from the doctor to whom she was reporting her abuse.

Her notes represented years — years — of real-time explanations of what was going on,” Heard said. The notes detailed a 2012 incident in which Heard said Depp “hit her” and “threw her on the floor” and another during which he “ripped her nightgown” and “threw her on the bed,” as well as a 2013 altercation when Depp “threw her against a wall and threatened to kill her.” However, a judge ruled the therapist notes to be “hearsay and inadmissible.”

Heard Still Has Feelings For Johnny Depp

The surprising part of the interview was when Heard confessed her feelings for Depp. She told Guthrie that she “absolutely” still loves Depp and has “no bad feelings” toward him. She said, “I love him. I loved him with all my heart. And I tried the best I could to make a deeply broken relationship work and I couldn’t.”

She added, “I know that might be hard to understand or it might be really easy to understand if you’ve just ever loved anyone.”
