Cumberbatch Was Not Sure About Playing Dr. Strange
The actor was asked about how he accepted the part of Doctor Strange in 2014 during the interview. He said that he knew very little about the character and that he thought it was “very dated and sexist.”
Doctor Strange, on the other hand, will be a ‘character of his time with a few attitude problems,‘ according to the crew. Benedict Cumberbatch noted that he is very far from being ‘offensive or stereotypical’ even though his character can be a ‘bit cold to the folks around him.
He went on to describe how Marvel went to great pains to make sure he was cast in Doctor Strange. He claimed that he was engaged to Hamlet on stage at the same time as Doctor Strange was being filmed. Because Marvel was confident that Cumberbatch was the ideal fit for the character, the company pushed back the film’s production by six months and cut the post-production time in half. The company considered recruiting other actors for the part but chose to wait for Cumberbatch, according to the actor.
