Chris Wallace Slams Taylor Swift’s Time’s Person Of The Year Cover

Recently, Time Magazine announced Taylor Swift as the Person of The Year, and the world rejoiced. However, few people could stand Swift’s success, slamming the outlet for not considering another frontrunner.

One of them was CNN‘s Chris Wallace, who caused a revolt when he slammed Time Magazine’s suggesting the Chinese leader Xi Jinping would have been a better choice.

Since 1927, Time has named a Person of the Year each year, bestowing the accolade to someone who had the most influence for better or for worse. Traditionally the Person of the Year is associated with individuals who have had a positive impact, but Time has also gone for figures like Elon Musk in 2021 and even Adolf Hitler in 1938.

However, on CNN, the host Chris Wallace called the Time’s choice a “pure marketing play” for a magazine. Wallace said, “I understand she has a huge cultural and economic force. But when Time magazine this week named her its Person of the Year, I thought, oh, please.” He also added, “First of all, hasn’t Taylor received enough well-deserved coverage this year? And how about some of the other finalists like Xi Jinping or Sam Altman of Open AI?”

After an awarding year with the grand success of Eras Tour, Taylor Swift was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year, and Elon Musk could not hold back and warned the Grammy singer about her achievement.

The Tesla CEO said, “Some risk of popularity decline after this award. I speak from experience lol.” Surprisingly, this is not the first time Musk has offered advice to Swift over the social media platform. In September, he suggested to Swift that she should post some of her music or concert videos directly on the X platform.
