The famous rapper Big Pokey died on 18 June 2023. He had made himself recognizable by releasing albums and mix tapes including ‘Hardest Pit in the Litter’, ‘Da Sky’s Da Limit’, ‘Evacuation Notice’, ‘Mob 4 Life’, ‘The Best Of Big Pokey II’, and more.

Pokey’s cause of death is yet to be disclosed however he was immediately taken to the hospital right after he collapsed on the stage. There is no certain health history available at this moment, which can give us a glimpse of his cause of death.

How Did Big Pokey Die?

Big Pokey collapsed on stage and was hospitalized

The tragic incident happened with Big Pokey in Beaumont, Texas, while the rapper was performing late Saturday night. During the performance, Pokey took a breath and fell backward. He collapsed on the stage and was straight away taken to the hospital. A viral video has revealed that Pokey took the microphone while the crowd was looking at him.

The artist died at 45. The fans are curious to know the cause of death. Although the cause remains unknown, the family members are expected to give a statement regarding the same in the next few days. “It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Milton ‘Big Pokey’ Powell. Big Pokey passed away on June 18, 2023,” the statement for now reads.

It added, “He was well-loved by his family, his friends, and his loyal fans. In the coming days, we will release information about his celebration of life and how the public can pay their respects. We ask that you respect his family and their privacy during this difficult time. Big Pokey will forever be ‘The Hardest Pit in the Litter.’”

Who Was Big Pokey?

The rapper released a few albums and mixtapes

Mostly known by his stage name Big Pokey, Miltol Powell started his rapping career by collaborating with hip-hop DJ, DJ Screw, during the 90s. His debut album‘“Hardest Pit in the Litter”‘arrived in 1999 and managed to impress the audience. Pokey later released many mixtapes, singles, and albums, which made him a popular face among the public.

Big Pokey was an original member of Screwed Up Click, which also featured some well-known faces including Al-D, B.G. Duke, Big Troy, Botany Boyz, Big Jut, Chris Ward, B.G. Gator, Big Hawk, Big Floyd, Big Mello, Big Moe, Big Pokey, and many more are there. The group has released three studio albums including ‘Blockbleeders’ (1999), ‘Making History’ (2005), and ‘The Takeover (2014).
