“It’s Innate In Us”: Mark Consuelos Asserts Men Have “Terminator Vision” To Detect Women’s Enhancement Surgeries

Mark Consuelos recently appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark and made a statement about men that many men would also find astonishing. The out-of-pocket and controversial remarks took no time to go viral on social media.

According to him, men have the ability to detect whether women have had “procedures” or are completely natural. These remarks, whether made light-heartedly or not, were deemed as demeaning by a lot of people.

During his appearance on the show, Mark Consuelos asserted that men have a sort of “Terminator vision” that enables them to identify women’s surgeries, stating it to be a kind of “nature’s way” of preparing them for what they are “going to be dealing with”.

“We know she’s not that tall, she’s wearing six or seven-inch stilettos, and the upper lip? She draws lines,” Consuelos said. He then added that it helps men identify what they’re getting into if they further engage with the woman.

Interestingly, the actor made these comments while talking to the host, his wife, Kelly Ripa. Surprised at the remark herself, Ripa repeated his words to makes sure she has heard him right: “You’re going to be DEALING with?” to which Consuelos simply asserted that it’s vital for men to identify that they’re “not marrying this whole thing“.

“It’s innate in us,” he said. “I’m glad that you have Terminator vision, but we can all agree, most men do not,” Ripa replied. Unsurprisingly, the statement has elicited a lot of controversy with people asking themselves whether there is any truth in what he is saying. If so, what is the implication of it all in relationships?

Mark Consuelos’ Remarks Point At A Larger Issue

Mark Consuelos’ statement relies on the stereotype that men are somehow biologically programmed to spot cosmetic enhancements. While some men might be more observant of physical appearance than others, there’s no scientific evidence to support the idea of an innate ability to detect procedures like lip fillers or breast implants.

These enhancements can be subtle, and successful procedures often aim to create a natural look. Moreover, the idea that men possess some kind of X-ray vision for such things is simply unrealistic.

Moreover, the implication that spotting enhancements is about “dealing with” a woman is insensitive and objectifying. A woman’s decision to undergo cosmetic procedures is a personal one, often based on self-confidence or a desire to address insecurities.

Consuelo’s comments also bring forth a larger issue: the tendency to focus on physical appearance in relationships. Reducing women to a collection of physical features, enhanced or not, undermines the complexity and depth of human relationships.
