Mark Cuban Says Elon Musk’s Twitter Strategy Is A “Huge Mistake”

Elon Musk bought Twitter last year for $44 billion and since then, he has been struggling to manage the company. Right after taking over, he laid off around half of its employees and stopped paying office rent across the globe to cut costs. Musk also introduced Twitter Blue.

Under this policy, users will have to pay a monthly fee to obtain and retain their verified blue check marks on the platform. Now, billionaire Mark Cuban has called out the SpaceX founder’s strategy on Twitter, calling it a “huge mistake.” So let us find out in detail what he said.

Billionaire Mark Cuban, who is known as the judge of ‘Shark Tank‘, has slammed Elon Musk for his handling of Twitter. According to CNN, Cuban took to Twitter to express his displeasure with the company.

There were 100 ways @elonmusk could have asked legacy checks for $100. Egalitarianism was the worst of all of them. It’s Diet Coke level. Let me give some examples“, the Dallas Mavericks owner wrote.

He then went on to write different possibilities of how Musk could have charged $100 a month for the blue check mark, this includes charging for AI protection of celebrity accounts.

Recently, Ross Gerber, who is a major investor in Tesla Inc. and Twitter, criticized the way Musk has been handling the social media giant. Especially the way blue check marks were given to users.

Elon went out of his way to insult people with blue checks as being entitled famous people, and implied that the system he was creating was this egalitarian free world where verification was just based off being you — and famous people wouldn’t get this free privilege,” he said.

Gerber added, “So when he reversed himself he just looked like a total hypocrite, and then the way he did it was even worse because then he gave it to people with at least one million followers.”
