At the time of Matthew Perry’s death, the cause of death was not revealed. The Medical Examiner’s Office of Los Angeles County cited the cause of his death as “deferred.” The coroner’s office was still examining the cause of death through an autopsy. Now, almost two months after the actor’s death, the cause of his death is revealed, and it is due to what he struggled with for half of his life—drugs.

Matthew Perry Died Due To Acute Effects Of Ketamine
It was the thing that killed Matthew Perry that he was trying to run away from for a long time! The Los Angeles County medical examiner confirmed the cause of death of the actor in an autopsy report. According to the report, the cause of death was coronary artery disease, the effects of opioids, and buprenorphine. However, the main substance that was the leading cause of his death was Ketamine.
In the autopsy report, the examiner reported that the death was primarily caused by “the acute effects of ketamine.” A Ketamine prescription is an alternative to therapy to cure depression, the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and some difficult mental health problems. Sometimes the drug is also used for recreational purposes.
The report also states that Matthew Perry was on Ketamine therapy. The drug found in his system was not possible after his therapy session a week and a half before his death. The autopsy report reads, “At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression.”

The most affected by the death of Matthew Perry were the cast members of his famous sitcom ‘Friends’. From Matt LeBlanc to Lisa Kudrow, everyone posted a heartfelt tribute to the actor in their sweet ways after releasing a joint statement.
Recently, his co-star and the one who helped Matthew Perry seek help during his addiction days, Jennifer Aniston, said that she was texting him throughout the day he died.
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon appeared on ‘The Morning Show’, where the actress said that Matthew was happy and healthy in his last days.
She said, “He was happy. He was healthy. He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy—That’s all I know.” While she wiped tears with Reese holding her hand, Aniston said, “I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty. He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.”
Jennifer added, “I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit. He worked so hard. He really was dealt a tough one. I miss him dearly. We all do. Boy, he made us laugh really hard.”
