After almost 50 years long battle, the women in America lost their right to abortion. On Friday, June 24, the Supreme Court of the USA took the decision to overturn the Roe V. Wade law which was passed in 1973. The law gave American women the right to abort their child before it became viable.
This decision has disturbed the life and liberty of women in America. There are protests going on in every corner of the country. Celebrities, politicians, and social workers have reacted to this controversial decision. Many are completely against it while some have supported the court’s decision.
Overturning Roe V. Wade Leads To Protests
The US Supreme Court overturned the 1973 Roe V. Wade law with a ruling of 6-3 on Friday. They passed another law in its place, called the Trigger law. The law states that women are not allowed to abort unless it’s a medical emergency. This has caused a huge uproar all over America. People have divided into two groups, one supporting abortion rights and the other supporting anti-abortion rights.
On the day of the ruling of the Supreme Court, several hundreds of people gathered outside to protest. Waving green and black signs were the abortion-rights advocates who were seen outside the court. They donned green bandanas while shouting, “my body, my choice.”
Julianne, an abortion-rights activist from Texas who declined to provide her last name, told Insider, “We’re not going to give up, we’re going to come back stronger than ever”. As tears rolled down her face, she added, “With the massive disruptions across millions of people doing the same thing as us, we will shut this country down and show them that we are not going to stand for it.”
On the other side stood a massive group of anti-abortion rights supporters wearing red shirts with white letters that read, “The pro-life generation votes.” Among them was, Ellisha Olson who carried a sign that said, “The future is anti-abortion.”
She also commented that overturning Roe V. Wade was a “victory for women.” She continued, “It’s our job as a pro-life generation to make sure we create a culture of life and a culture where women feel supported and empowered to choose life.”

I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are – that after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that. https://t.co/mwK561oxxl

I hope the 53% of white women who just couldn’t stomach voting for @HillaryClinton are happy that they’ve just ensured that their daughters grow up in #Gilead.
A woman’s right to choose is a HEALTH decision.
A PERSONAL health decision.
I’m a Christian and know that.

This Supreme Court is an absolute disaster. From giving people the right to carry guns to taking away Womens rights of autonomy over their own bodies. We weren’t being reactive we saw it coming.

This is actually happening.

People will still get abortions.
These procedures won't stop just because Roe v. Wade is overturned.
This will only prevent safe, legal abortions from taking place.

Roe V Wade being overturned by the Supreme Court is so disgusting. I am so ashamed of the direction that this country is going. This blatant hate for women’s rights is so unbelievably concerning and heartbreaking.

No one, not the government, not politicians, not the Supreme Court should prevent access to abortion, birth control, and contraceptives. People should have the FREEDOM to choose. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/zo67xyzex5

The Dobbs decision is a tragedy. The heartbreak this has caused is immeasurable. But someday, hopefully soon, we WILL find our way to a future where reproductive freedom is forever enshrined in federal law.

abortion is healthcare.

Not too long ago, this would have been dystopian sci-fi. But the legacy of the 2016 election and the indelible mark of the GOP is printed here in black and white. How much farther this will go once again depends on American voters. Blame extremism or apathy, but this is America: pic.twitter.com/WefAworLlW

An enraging, tragic catastrophe that will endanger the health and lives of millions.
A right-wing Supreme Court and most Republican politicians have embraced the most extreme position on abortion – a position supported by only 15-20% of the public.
Fuck these people. https://t.co/keCJcuDYAR

It doesn’t end here. Fuck this sham. Fuck these people. If you’re a single issue voter and your issue is your taxes, fuck you too. This Supreme Court is on you.

just because you’re not an American citizen does not mean the overturning of Roe V Wade is none of your business. if you support womens rights and human rights you NEED to be vocal about how drastic and appalling the overturning of the constitutional right to an abortion is.
— Charli (@charli_xcx) June 24, 2022
I’m past disgusted w/ my country and their constant inability to protect one another’s right & keep their word. How u overturning the wrong things? So many things to overturn that make sense. But this is what you chose??

This is devastating news for families – Men and women – who believe the government should not decide when and with whom they become parents. This is not the end of this fight for human rights. https://t.co/spFusnvwbF

I don’t care if you don’t want to hear this; overturning Roe v. Wade is an erosion of women’s rights and reinforces this absurd, backwards notion that women shouldn’t be allowed to be in control of their own bodies. If you DON’T think that’s absurd and backwards, fuck you.

When people talk about how their vote ‘doesn’t matter’ or ‘we are screwed anyway’.. well. We elected a man 6 years ago that gave 3 seats to the Supreme Court. And today those 3 people used their power to take away women and peoples rights to decide their own future.
