Actress and Oscar winner Anne Hathaway has finally cleared the air surrounding rumors that she secretly underwent a facelift procedure to retain her youthful appearance.

The rumors began swirling online after Hathaway appeared at the 2026 Oscars ceremony and in promotional events for the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, looking notably youthful and “lifted.” As a result, many people assumed she must have undergone some kind of cosmetic procedure.

However, Hathaway denied having any surgery and explained that her youthful look was actually achieved through a hairstyling technique. In an Instagram video, she showed how her longtime stylist, Orlando Pita, used two tight braids near her ears to subtly create the appearance of a lifted face.

“There are people saying I’ve had a facelift. And that’s so distracting. It’s just two braids.” Meanwhile, Hathaway also acknowledged that she might still opt for cosmetic procedures in the future. “I might still get a facelift someday.”

Her comments offered a refreshingly open perspective, as she did not frame cosmetic surgery as taboo or controversial. Instead, Hathaway emphasized that such decisions are deeply personal and should not be casually assumed by strangers online.

Another important aspect of the discussion was the link between Hathaway’s statement and the famous “Hathahate” era, which happened back when the actress was trying to win an Oscar for her performance in Les Misérables.

In this regard, she noted that her younger self was usually “scared” and harshly judging herself, and it seems like now she manages to accept fame, aging, and criticism with much more ease.

As expected, the actress’s appearance quickly became the subject of widespread online discussion, sparking debates about beauty standards for female celebrities, the unrealistic expectations placed on actresses, and how rapidly social media can turn speculation into “fact.”

Unlike many stars caught in similar situations, Hathaway responded calmly, neither aggressively denying the rumors nor playing into them for attention.
