Who Is James Baker? Why Did Elon Musk Fire Him After He ‘Suppressed’ The Hunter Biden Exposé?

Elon Musk brought chaos when he took over the platform after the completion of the $44 billion deal. But, the ghosts of the past are also resurfacing which includes the alleged Hunter Biden laptop controversy which emerged during the Joe Biden campaign for the 2020 Presidential elections. During the presidential election, social media platforms were eagle-eyed censoring any information, articles, documents, or statements that were suspicious. One of them was the Hunter Biden New York Post exposé article.

Many publications ran stories about the reliability of the exposé and whether the story happened or was staged to hinder the Biden campaign. But, on December 2nd, 2022, author Matt Taibi released the emails and conversations between the General Counselor heading the new Musk management, James Baker, and former Vice President of Global Comms Brandon Borrman. He titled the thread ‘Twitter Files’, which was concerned with the investigation of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. After running the thread, on Tuesday, the CEO of Twitter fired Baker from the management. Why did he do so?

Baker also served as an associate general counsel for the FBI under James Comey. James joined Twitter when Jack Dorsey was heading the micro-blogging site in 2020. After serving for two years as the General Counsel and Vice President, he was fired on December 6th, 2022.

Elon Musk tweeted the news of firing James stating the reason. He wrote, “In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today”. A user asked Musk whether he was allowed to explain himself. Elon replied, “Yes. His explanation was…unconvincing”.

When she contacted the person behind reviewing and releasing the “Twitter Files”, they came to know it was James “Jim” Baker.

In a tweet thread on December 6th, 2022, he reasoned on why there was a delay in publishing new files.

Explaining the delay, he wrote, We can now tell you part of the reason why. “On Tuesday, Twitter Deputy General Counsel (and former FBI General Counsel) Jim Baker was fired. Among the reasons? Vetting the first batch of “Twitter Files” – without knowledge of new management”.

Matt continued, “The news that Baker was reviewing the “Twitter files” surprised everyone involved, to say the least. New Twitter chief Elon Musk acted quickly to “exit” Baker Tuesday”. He assured that they will publish the next batch of “Twitter Files” soon.
