As condolences and criticism roll out, captain Brock Purdy responds to all the questions and makes a statement regarding losing the game. Here’s what he said.
San Francisco 49ers Lose The Super Bowl To The Chiefs
The San Francisco 49ers lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs- winning by a solid three points. The Chiefs took home the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the second year in a row, creating history for being the first team in 20 years to do so.
Though the team played incredibly well, luck wasn’t in support as the team went through a number of injuries.
Dre Greenlaw slipped after s commercial break and was removed from the field following an Achilles injury.
Then Deebo Samuel was hit by a hamstring injury, leading fans to get concerned at this point. And before you know it, the team had another injury- this time Jon Feliciano who had to get off from the field because of an injury.
As things started to take turns for the Chiefs, they finally ended up winning the match by a 25-22 victory.
Now as fans celebrate, many are also mourning the loss of the Super Bowl and Purdy’s loss. Here’s how the 49ers captain reacted to the loss.

Brock Purdy Opens Up On How It Feels To Lose The Super Bowl
Talking about the loss, Purdy said, “Yeah, obviously it sucks man. You want to win it for that kind of guy [head coach Kyle Shanahan]. He’s a great coach. Everyone wants to go to war with that guy. The way he handles himself and carries himself, we all just want to win for him. Obviously, the older guys, the vets. Trent Williams, Arik Armstead and all the guys that have been through it, man, you want to win for them.”
“It starts with Coach, man. That’s who I hurt for,” Purdy continued. “I hurt for all the other guys. Our whole team. What we have been through the last year hasn’t been easy, and for it to go like that, close at the end, it’s tough. I’m still trying to wrap my mind around it.”
His statement was compared by fans to Kelce’s treatment of his coach, as many pointed out the difference.
Here’s hoping that the 49ers make a comeback next year and hopefully exact revenge and take the ring home.
