“How Does The Medicine Taste?”: Elon Musk Mocks Users Who Criticized Removal Of Block Feature From X

Elon Musk is desperately trying to remodel Twitter, aka X, to compete with its contemporaries. Musk’s decision to buy X was hailed across the platform, but when the billionaire took over, public opinion changed. Elon’s aggressive and threatening policies and changes attracted a lot of flak. Due to this, X faced plummeting wealth. Since then, he has been employing tactics to increase revenue.

Elon Musk introduced the $8 per month subscription feature for users. However, due to the increasing number of fake accounts, he halted the process. When he relaunched it, Musk added new features for the subscribers. Since then, the ex-CEO has introduced major changes with many policy tweaks. Recently, he announced that he would remove the block feature from X because, as per him, it does not make sense. The users criticized the step, but Elon has clapped back at the users.

On August 18, 2023, Elon Musk tweeted about doing away with the block feature, writing, “Block is going to be deleted as a “feature,” except for DMS.” He added, “It makes no sense.” The move received a lot of criticism on X. However, on August 20, 2023, Musk responded to the criticism by mocking those who were against the move. He wrote, “Pretty fun blocking people who complain that blocking is going away. She wrote, “Please rethink removing the block feature. As an anti-bullying activist (and target of harassment) I can assure you it’s a critical tool to keep people safe online- that woman.”

Linda Yaccarino replied to the tweet, writing, “Our users’ safety on X is our number one priority. And we’re building something better than the current state of block and mute. Please keep the feedback coming.”
