In the current age, the wars aren’t fought merely in a physical location but also on a greater network via social media. The Israel-Hamas/Palestine conflict shows us exactly that. Rashid Al-Haddad is a 19-year-old who used social media to show the reality, gaining popularity for his looks.
Celebrities, common people, and politicians alike have shared their opinions about the conflict while not exactly experiencing it. The people amidst the war too have taken up on internet and shared their side of opinions, propaganda, views and perspectives. Rashid Al-Haddad might be just one on the latter side.
Yemeni Influencer Who Became A Sensation For Celebrating Red Sea Ship Raids
Rashid Al-Haddad has been dubbed as Timhouthi Chalamet which is a result of his resemblance with the American actor Timothee Chalamet and for him favoring the Houthi group.
Houthi is a group that rose up as a side in the Yemen civil war and has had conflicts with the US government in the past. Recently, the group attacked Israel’s side in support of Hamas. Their latest deed was capturing a cargo ship named Galaxy Leader and blocking the Red Sea’s trade routes.
Rashid had started posting on many social media outlets posing upon the same ship. He has garnered a significant fan following too. He amassed 27,000 followers on Instagram and 10,000 on X. He also has gained many likes on the social media platform TikTok, however, his account has been shown to have disappeared from TikTok after posting a video that showed him sailing a captured cargo ship on the Red Sea according to a Vice report. His other social media accounts remain unsuspended.

What Does His Disappearance Imply?
Rashid Al-Haddad’s case is one that is a thin line between being political and entertaining. He has been seen in militant garbs carrying AK-47s in his posts. He has also asserted his support for the Houdi and Hamas groups via posts like, “I hope that my message reaches you, a free Palestine, and we ignite it against the Israeli aggression that violates human rights.”
Yet it would do us a favor before assuming his direct connections with the group. The cargo ship Galaxy Leader has been rumored to be a tourist attraction at this point as people are seen in his videos to be clicking pictures too like they are on a merry walk and not at the core of an ongoing war. Rashad might just have been the first to reach the Western audience.
