Following years of saving the world, battling corrupt superheroes, and enduring some of the bleakest moments in ‘The Boys’ universe, Annie January’s future might be very different.
According to actor Erin Moriarty, the character’s ideal return wouldn’t involve another massive battle or bloody showdown. It would focus on something far more personal: motherhood.
Erin Moriarty Imagines A More Personal Future For Annie

When asked about Annie’s future after the conclusion of season 5 of ‘The Boys’, Moriarty revealed her hopes for a future where Annie and Hughie had raised their daughter, Robin. Instead of focusing on superhero action, the idea would be to look at Annie’s life as a parent..

“The superhero stuff is fun to explore, but I would love to see her become a mom. And explore what her relationship is like with her daughter, and how she parents, and how she shapes her daughter’s life,” she told SR.
It’s an idea that’s refreshing for a franchise that’s known for dark satire and explosive violence. Moriarty feels Annie’s most powerful ability is not her powers, but her humanity. That way, the story should be about family and the difficulties of being a child in a twisted world.
It’s an attractive concept. It has always been Annie’s journey to take charge of her life. So, it would be a logical progression to see her do the same for Robin.
Annie Returning Is Definitely A Possibility In ‘The Boys’ Universe

As of yet, there is no sign of such a project being developed. However, Moriarty herself emphasized that it is her own “pipe dream” and not something being discussed behind the scenes. However, the future of ‘The Boys’ franchise is very open.

‘Vought Rising’ and the upcoming ‘The Boys: Mexico’ are just two of the many projects in the works that show Prime Video isn’t going to stop there. Those shows are supposed to be about different characters and different aspects of the franchise. However, they also have space for familiar faces to come later.
A tale set in the future with Annie and Hughie’s family would be something the franchise has never done before. Rather than asking what a hero does to save the world, it would answer what a hero does to raise the next generation.
That change in emphasis might offer a rather poignant and personal continuation of Annie’s story. Even after everything she’s endured, her greatest battle may not be against villains at all; it could be breaking the cycle of the past and building a better future for her daughter.
