In just a few days, Prime Video will release the third and final season of ‘Good Omens‘. It marks the end of angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley‘s story with a “bittersweet” conclusion.
Fans really want to know if the “Ineffable Husbands” can make up after last season’s devastating finale, but the show is also getting ready to bring in a character that will split the audience right down the middle. That character is Jesus Christ.
Bilal Hasna Cast as Jesus in ‘Good Omens’ Season 3

Bilal Hasna, who has starred in ‘Dead Hot’ and ‘Extraordinary‘, will appear as Jesus in the final season, which comes out on May 13, 2026.

The show has talked about Jesus before, usually when Crowley mentions being there for the Crucifixion. However, this is the first time Jesus will actually show up in person. And in the world of ‘Good Omens,’ “the flesh” is where things get tricky.
Why Jesus is the Most Divisive Character in ‘Good Omens’

To get why bringing in Jesus is so risky, you have to look back at the original book. The 1990 novel by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett was a satirical masterpiece. It didn’t treat Heaven and Hell like sacred places. Instead, it showed them as petty, bureaucratic HR departments.
In the book, you don’t really hear much about the actual teachings of the Prince of Peace. Instead, the story focuses on all the mix-ups that lead to Armageddon. Since the sequel never materialized, Gaiman is now using those ideas as a loose blueprint for Season 3, which was always intended to explore the Second Coming.
Now, why will Hasna’s version of Jesus cause such a split among viewers? Because ‘Good Omens‘ has never cared about being reverent. It cares about humanity. It’s known for “acerbic wit, wry commentary, and self-aware narration.” In Season 3, that wit will likely be aimed straight at what organized religion expects the Messiah to be.

Using the satirical tone Pratchett was known for, sources say this version of Jesus will not be a warrior on a white horse like in the ‘Book of Revelation‘. He will be more like a confused, radical philosopher waking up in the modern world. He will probably be horrified by what people have done in his name, especially mega churches, nationalism, and the bureaucracy of Heaven.
This fits with how the show has “corrected” the source material before. A deeper look into the franchise reveals an active effort to move past the racially insensitive elements of the 1990 novel while consciously diversifying its cast of angels and humans.
How Jesus Affects Aziraphale and Crowley’s Story

Bringing in Jesus serves a clear story purpose for the two main characters played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant.
Season 2 ended with Aziraphale going up to Heaven to “fix” the system. He left Crowley heartbroken on a rainy street on Earth. In Season 3, they will try to stop the Second Coming. As one review put it, “The show’s visual language shines through… allowing Aziraphale and Crowley’s minute interactions to speak for themselves.”
How will Crowley react to the returned Son of God? He is a demon who was technically there for the Crucifixion and has a famously complicated relationship with his former boss, God. And how will Aziraphale, now stuck inside the machine of Heaven, try to control the story? We just have to wait and watch, and the trailer looks every bit scandalous and enticing.
‘Good Omens’ Season 3 Release Date

By bringing in Jesus, ‘Good Omens‘ is doing what it does best. It takes the most sacred cow of Western literature and treats it with the messy, complicated affection of a friend.
Whether audiences think it is heresy or a revelation, Bilal Hasna’s Jesus will surely be the most talked-about figure of the television season.
‘Good Omens‘ Season 3 comes out on Prime Video on May 13, 2026.
